Dental Exams & Checkups

The Importance of Routine Dental Care

At Water’s Edge, we promote routine dental care for prevention of oral health problems and encourage patients to see their dentist at least twice a year.
Routine dental care can:

  • Remove plaque and tartar, preventing cavities
  • Promote gum health by cleaning around gums
  • Identifying dental issues early, allowing for less invasive options
  • Help patients maintain their dental health goals

What Happens During a Dental Exam?

A routine dental exam can include a digital X-ray, if one hasn’t been done recently. It also includes teeth cleaning done by a hygienist and a visual exam performed by one of our professional dentists.

Some of what a dentist looks for includes:

Cavities in teeth, particularly those causing pits in teeth grooves
Receding gums and pockets between the gums and teeth.
Gingivitis where gums are tender and bleeding
Any infections
Oral cancer lesions or other symptoms

Water’s Edge Offers Three Differences in Dental Exams

The process begins with a comprehensive dental examination. Your dentist may take digital X-rays, 3D imaging, and impressions to evaluate your teeth, gums, and jaw.

We have a comfortable atmosphere that helps you feel relaxed. Our friendly staff answers your questions and guides you through the process.

Water’s Edge can see your entire family regardless of age. Our dentists and hygienists work with both children and older adults.

Our dental professionals have personalized treatment plans to meet the unique needs of you and your family.

Technology Used in Implant Treatment

Diagnostic tools may be used to assist with treatment planning and implant placement.

These may include:

  • Digital X-rays for evaluating bone and surrounding structures
  • 3D CBCT imaging for detailed implant planning
  • Guided implant technology to assist with placement accuracy

These technologies help the dental team evaluate the treatment area and plan procedures appropriately.
