Dental Implants
Restore Missing Teeth with Dental Implants
Dental implants are a commonly used option for replacing missing teeth. They are designed to support replacement teeth that look and function similarly to natural teeth.
Missing teeth can affect chewing, speech, and overall oral health. At Water’s Edge Dental, our team works with patients to evaluate tooth-replacement options and determine whether dental implants are appropriate for their needs.
During your consultation, your dentist will assess your oral health and discuss treatment options to restore the function and appearance of your smile.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants may offer several advantages for patients replacing missing teeth.

Natural Appearance: Implant-supported crowns are designed to resemble natural teeth and blend with the surrounding smile.

Restored Function: Dental implants may help improve chewing ability and support normal speech.

Long-Term Tooth Replacement: With proper care and regular dental visits, dental implants may last for many years.

Support for Jawbone Health: Dental implants are placed in the jawbone, which may help maintain bone structure following tooth loss.

No Impact on Neighbouring Teeth: Unlike some restorative options, implants do not require adjacent teeth to be altered.
The Dental Implant Process

Consultation and Examination
Your dentist will evaluate your oral health and may take digital X-rays or 3D imaging to determine whether dental implants are appropriate.

Implant Placement
A small titanium implant is placed into the jawbone where the missing tooth was located. Local anesthesia is typically used to help keep the treatment area comfortable.

Healing and Osseointegration
Over time, the implant integrates with the surrounding jawbone through a process known as osseointegration. This healing phase usually takes several months.

Abutment Placement
After the implant has integrated with the bone, a connector piece called an abutment is attached to support the final restoration.

Crown Placement
A custom dental crown is attached to the abutment to complete the restoration and replace the missing tooth
Technology Used in Implant Treatment
Diagnostic tools may be used to assist with treatment planning and implant placement.
These may include:
- Digital X-rays for evaluating bone and surrounding structures
- 3D CBCT imaging for detailed implant planning
- Guided implant technology to assist with placement accuracy
These technologies help the dental team evaluate the treatment area and plan procedures appropriately.
